Running Links
T u r r a m u r r a
Since the very start in 1974, the runners have kept records of who ran, the date, distance covered and the time taken.
A team of volunteers has now transcribed all these records onto a computer database, which at its full permutation covers a vast collection of data involving 1,725 Turramurra Trotters, and the times they achieved over 52 Saturdays in each of the 35 years across any combination of 7 different courses.
Logic has then been applied to scan across the database to identify the fastest times per individual per course (distance covered) and to total the lot.
When clicking on these reports, please be aware that it might take a few moments to bring up the tables, as data for more than 1700 Trotters need to be retrieved and presented. Speed of retrieval may be quick, but it will depend on your own equipment and internet connection.
The record holders for each of the distances and the times in minutes:seconds for each course are given here ....
Please note in the Full List below, the following indications :-
It would be inappropropriate not to make a special mention of Alan Cole, whose dedication and contribution to the local community through his leadership of and commitment to the Turramurra Trotters has been outstanding.
Apart from being one of our best runners in the history of the Trotters, Alan Cole has also maintained, guarded and protected these records for more than 30 years. Since retiring from running competitively through knee injury, Alan has kept these records, updated the times and managed their preparation.
As well as keeping and recording the times every Saturday morning in all sorts of inclement weather (when most of the Trotters themselves have stayed in bed), Alan has put in his own time in managing the treasury, banking and finances, drinks roster, special events, anniversaries, Christmas functions, ordering and buying the T-shirts and caps as well as dealing with enquiries, maps and overseas trips. He has done this in his own warm and unassuming style, and all Trotters owe him a great debt of gratitude. Legend.
Work is now continuing on two fronts :-
